After I used teeth whitening strips or teeth whitening toothpaste, my teeth became sensitive.
Unfortunately, it’s something we hear in our clinic on a regular basis. More so, I remember using teeth whitening strips and tooth paste in high school and instantly felt sensitivity. The reason is because many teeth whitening tooth pastes contain harsh abrasives that literally grind your enamel away.
The teeth whitening system we use is very gradual so it will require your patience. It will not whiten your teeth overnight. Instead of using abrasives, it has a safe solution that penetrates deep into your teeth and whitens them from the inside out. You simply dispense the solution each day and wear an upper and lower customized tray that will fit your teeth perfectly. These trays are precisely made for your mouth and have the accuracy similar to an Invisalign tray so fabricating these trays are not cheap for us. However, it is the only way to make sure the teeth whitening solution coats every part of your teeth and does not pool up in only a few areas. We also provide a non-abrasive teeth whitening toothpaste.
The solution is not toxic to your gums and is safe to ingest in small quantities.
Teeth whitening should be done as the first step of a cosmetic treatment plan as fillings and crowns will not whiten the same rate as natural teeth.
It is a good idea to keep your trays in a safe place even after you finish your teeth whitening regimen in case you want to touch up your teeth’s color in the future.
